My hubby snapped this a couple weeks ago when we took the family to the Oregon Zoo. The day was sunshine-y and beautiful and there was a lovely mist sprayer near where we stopped for ice cream and the Bean was only too grateful to run through to cool himself down.

21 JanA glowing baby is always delightful but when I snapped this one of Leelee at OMSI in Portland a couple months ago, I couldn’t believe how radioactive looking it turned out( This is not a doctored photo1). This pic was snapped at a ball-popping station in the museum and at first Leelee was terrified of all the gizmos all around us, but after he saw the Bean and Baby Daddy having fun, he totally warmed up to it and didn’t want to leave. I love the look of concentration he has on here as he waits for a ball to pop out of the tube. It’s moments like these I love to sit back and take it all in and wish I could use my camera to freeze time for just a little while longer.
Pacific Science Center (Seattle, WA)

The Science Center has a great toddler area with a staffed entrance and a watery moat (well not really a moat-more like a water toy area that helps contain the toddler play.) There are things to climb and explore, like a wooden helicopter and car that make sounds and light up and a giant plastic treehouse with a slide small enough for timid climbers. You can also take your toddlers through the main area in their stroller to see the ‘naked mole rats’ and giant animated dinosaurs. They may also enjoy the butterfly exhibit and the toddler planetarium show.
If you are still wondering if a membership is worth it for your family, it has amazing reciprocal agreements with over 200 museums worldwide. If you plan on visiting OMSI in Portland,OR or Science World in Vancouver, BC, your membership will get you free admission and a morning or afternoon of fabulous toddler entertainment. And by supporting our local science museum, you ensure that kids in our area get the opportunity to access some great out-of-school education. Terumi’s tip: I wish I knew about the toddler area here when my guys were smaller-I would say even 9 months plus. If you get there at opening you usually have free reign. And, you don’t need a membership for children under 3 so if you just buy a membership for the primary caregiver it will only cost you 50 dollars. I think the best value though is the silver membership because it can cover your nanny or grandparents too.
