Mod Pizza and men hard at work

20 May

My guys’ third occupational choice after pilot and UPS driver would probably be construction worker tied with garbage man.  They love the construction exhibit at the Children’s Museum.  They could spend hours there clocking in, collecting supplies, getting their outfits on and screwing things together.

Before having boys I didn’t really have the same appreciation for these men in hard hats and all the work they do and I’m also really excited about something currently being constructed in the center house above the museum:  Mod pizza.  We finally went to the one in Bellevue a few weeks ago and it was quick and delicious.  The boys loved getting their own pizzas and I loved that they were under 4 dollars each!  I think the one in Seattle Center, (or the Armory as it’s now called) opens mid-June and having such a reasonable/yummy option on site will make “going to work” so much easier for me and my little construction workers.  Join us for lunch?

Two reasons you might want to check out this restaurant in Pike Place Market:

1) their kids’ meals are ginormous.  (Yes, the fries and macaroni and cheese are part of the same meal.  Not the healthiest, but the fries tasted yummy with MY salad;)  We’ve been here a couple times and I love their panzanella salad.  On our last visit the highlights of the table were a quiche and omelet: it was brunch and yes, we had dessert.  (T’was delightful too!)

2) Check out the window behind the Bean.  You can see the hustle and bustle of the market without actually being in the crowd.  The patio also looks fantastic and I hope we can sit out there once this summer.  The wall behind the Bean makes a very cool backdrop for family pictures.

PS. if it matters to you, I think this restaurant is owned by parents of twins.  For me that’s one more good reason to visit.)

Something I’m excited about: kidscore

If you’ve been reading along you know how much we love to eat out in this family, so I’m super excited that somebody finally figured out how to actually rate kid-friendly restaurants and put it all in one place.  Kidscore is still in it’s early stages but I think it’s going to be a fantastic resource for parents and will probably be my new go to for finding new restaurants to try out when I have my guys in tow.  For example: right now it looks like Twirl Cafe is in the kid-friendly lead (duh, no-brainer, right?) but there’s a cafe I’ve never been to that rates only a little behind.  (Thank you Kidscore for putting Phinney Market and Eatery on my radar.)  Can’t wait to see more from this amazing website!
